Psarochori

Autumn is here, but we would love to extend our “summer” a bit longer. Therefore, on a rainy Saturday afternoon we decided to visit “Psarochori”. A “fishing village” that is located in the heart of Athens and is the ideal place for seafood lovers.

The place is modern and full of daylight with great, positive ambiance. The staff is pleasant and polite, and they are welcoming you with a big smile.

Take a look at the menu and there are plenty of choices to satisfy your appetite. Actually, you might find it a little difficult to choose as most of the dishes are very tempting.

We started with the fish soup which was warm and delicious, and we continued with some salads (I personally loved the salad named after the restaurant with cabbage, carrot, quinoa and orange juice dressing). Then, it was time for some seafood appetizers. Sea urchin and oysters brought the taste and the smell of the sea to our table. Their taramosalata was amazing, the smoked mackerel was juicy and aromatic, and the fine sea bream ceviche was quite impressive. And all of the above, were accompanied by cold, crispy, dry, white wine which was the “perfect match”.

For the main course, the girls chose shrimp linguine, and we went for the fresh fish cooked in a salt crust (the fish of that day was sea bream) which after they set it on fire (!!!!), they served it to us with juicy, healthy, boiled vegetables.

For closing, we had the profiteroles, a lemon pie and a traditional Greek galaktoboureko, with the lemon pie to have the leading role as it was very aromatic and perfectly balanced in flavors.

“Psarochori” is open daily (except Mondays) from 12.00 to 24.00 and on Sundays until 18.00.
