Orange Pie with Krokos Kozanis (Greek Saffron)

A few days ago, I enjoyed a lovely dinner at BARABICU restaurant, invited by Krokos Kozanis, the Greek saffron. Among other interesting parts of the presentation that preceded the dinner, the famous chef Rena of Ftelia shared with us her recipe for a delicious, yet easy orange pie. Of course, Krokos Kozanis, the Greek saffron, gives to the recipe a special aroma and taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 glass of sunflower oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup of Greek yogurt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • Zest of one orange
  • 2 fibers of Krokos Kozanis PDO
  • 1 pack crust sheet (450 grams)For the syrup
  • 2 glasses of water
  • 2 ½ glasses of sugar
  • Zest of one orange
  • 4-5 Krokos Kozanis fibers

Preheat the oven at 160-170 ° C.

Beat the sunflower oil, the eggs and the sugar in the mixer bowl very well. Add the yogurt, the orange zest and the Krokos Kozanis.

Cut the crust leaves into long strips (like noodles) and add them to the mixture. Stir, add the baking powder and leave the mixture for 10 minutes.

Grease a 28 X 40 baking pan and spread the mixture. Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes.

Prepare the syrup. Bring the water and sugar into boil and then add the orange zest and the Krokos Kozanis fibers. Let it simmer for 8 minutes.

Let the pie cool down and poor the syrup over the pie slowly.
